Natural, Eco-Friendly Group Get-Away

The name 'Footprints' is derived from the idea of minimizing our environmental impact or 'footprint' on the world.  While we realized that it would be impossible to have zero impact at the start, our plan has always been to improve each year until a zero or even positive impact has been created.  In this regard here are the steps we have and/or will be taking.

 ü      Insulate and caulk all the buildings well because conserving energy is always easier than generating more

ü Use low VOC paints which are more organic, smell better and cause less harm to the environment in the future

ü Full recycling programme of all bottles, paper, cardboard

ü Complete set of dishes to reduce the use of paper plates and plastic cutlery

ü      Convert all bulbs to compact fluorescent to provide the same light with much less electricity

ü      Rain barrel system for watering plants

ü      Use local, drought resistant plants to reduce water needs

ü      Low flow showerheads and faucets to reduce water waste

ü      All electricity is based on wind or low-impact hydro (provided by Bullfrog Power)

ü      Bio-degradable garbage bags in all the rooms and lounge/cafe

ü      Install solar hot water heating to let the sun provide a nice hot shower every morning (Don't worry, a backup ensures a hot shower each time)

ü      Composting of all the kitchen scraps to reduce the impact on the landfill

ü      No motorized vehicles on the lake to allow the fish, frogs and birds to also enjoy a clean environment

The final result will be a clean, comfortable, natural experience for our guests.  A vacation that enriches both you and mother nature.  Not a bad deal for everyone!
