Will our group be the only people there?  Yes.  We only rent to one group at a time and they have exclusive use of the resort.

Is this place rustic, with cold showers?  Not at all!  We are committed to the environment, but we also take great pride in our guests having a good time.  The buildings are very modern, with hot showers, clean sheets and all the comforts of home.

What else can we do there?  We provide you with canoes and boats to go out on the lake.  There is fishing of course.  There are excellent walks just around the resort, or at the various parks in the area (e.g. Algonquin, Silent Lake).  There is a horseshoe pit as well as a badminton/volleyball area.  Of course, the real reason you are there is to relax and enjoy yourself with your friends and family!

How big is the lake?  Quite small as it is a small kettle lake that the beavers have expanded.  This is very important for people with children as it allows you to see them easily at all times.  Is is quite deep in the middle and the water is completely clean and fresh.

Do we have to bring anything?  Just your food!  We provide the rest and each room is equipped just like any hotel room.  Always a good idea to bring along any special games that you want to play.  Bring along some beach towels, suntan lotion, etc. because you will be outside and enjoying yourself most of the time.

Are there stores in the area? Movie rentals?  There is an excellent little store five minutes from the resort that has the basics as well as one of the best movie libraries you will ever see.  Bancroft is fifteen minutes away and it has full shopping, liquor and beers stores and even a Canadian Tire for last minute purchases.

Can we cook our own food?  Absolutely!  Most of the groups do all their own cooking, which makes things a lot more relaxed and save a lot of money as well.

What does the kitchen include?  Pretty well everything that you need.  Stove, microwave, large freezer and fridge, pots, pans, dishes for forty people, etc.  If you need something specific, just ask and we will set it up for you.  We prefer that you use our dishes so that you don't use disposable plates. 

How close are the rooms to the lounge/cafe?  About 100 metres.  This allows the group in the lounge to have as much fun as they want, while allowing the people up in the rooms to get a good night's rest.

Is there a barbecue?  Yes.  It is quite large and we have recently converted over from gas to real wood so that things taste even better.

Are there any extra charges?  No.  You pay for the rooms that you need and everything after that is free. 

Can we have a fire?  Yes.  There is a fire area and we even provide you with the wood.  Occasionally there will be a fire ban on in the area and we ask that you respect that while at the resort.

What happens if there is a problem?  We have staff located near the resort and with one phone call they will be there to sort things out.

Is there a telephone?  Internet?  There is a telephone on the property that you can use for local and emergency calls.  For long distance, you should bring a calling card.  There is no internet access.  Cell phones do not work on the property because of the hills around it.

Is there a beach?  Swimming?  The lake is very clean and is great for swimming and playing with a raft and boats for your use.  The lakefront is nice for sitting but there is not really a sandy beach.  However, there is a very nice beach five minutes away, across the road on Diamond Lake.

Where are you located?   Our location is 2844 South Baptiste Lake Rd., Bancroft, ON.  K0L 1C0.  This is just between the villages of Birds Creek and Highland Grove.

Is the water safe to drink?  Yes, it is tested regularly and is probably better than most bottled water.  Also, it doesn’t result in plastic that has to be manufactured and recycled.

Clothes washing and drying?  There is a washer and hanging rack inside the welcome room.  There is also a hanging line just to the side of the cottage and one to the side of the rooms, with clothes pegs hanging on the side.

Are there any animals to be afraid of?  We have never had any problems, but it is very important to put all food away at nights and to ensure the garbage is packed away in double bags.  There are snakes, but they are not poisonous and are completely harmless.  

Can we get catering for our group?  Yes, we can provide basic catering and bag lunches, but we are certainly not experts.  As well, there are some good local caterers that you can contact and deal with directly and we will be happy to provide their names.
